General Guidelines

Abstracts must be submitted exclusively using this platform. Abstracts submitted via e-mail, fax or regular mail will not be accepted.

There is no limit on the number of abstracts submitted by an author, but the same study cannot be submitted twice, even under a different topic/category or with a different title or authors.

The number of abstracts which will be accepted is strictly related to the planned Congress timetable and to the evaluation of the Reviewers.

Abstracts must be written clearly in English and submitted prior to April 15th, 2022. Abstracts received after the deadline, will not be considered.

The submission system will generate an acknowledgment of your submission which will be sent to the e-mail address of the person submitting the abstract. Please make sure that you receive the e-mail confirmation after making your submission (please also check your spam or junk folder). If you do not receive the acknowledgment of receipt, kindly inform the Congress Organizers immediately to

Notification of acceptance or rejection will be made by the Technical Secretariat via e-mail by May 6th, 2022.

The Presenting author must be registered in the Congress before May 23rd, 2022 to ensure the abstract is included in the program and scheduled for presentation. If he /she is not registered on time, the abstract will be automatically withdrawn from the final program.

Information Required to Complete a Submission

Main Author

Individual who is submitting the abstract. All correspondence will be done with the main author.


Abstract Body

300-word maximum, separated into:

  • Background – What is already known about the subject of the Abstract, what is not known about the subject and hence what the study intended to examine (or what the paper seeks to present).
  • Methods – Describe pertinent experimental procedures.
  • Results – Summarize the results of the research.
  • Conclusions – A statement explaining the significance of the work and its implications for further research.
  • List Authors
  • Presentation Preference — Please note whether the preferred format is an Poster, Oral or Video.
  • Disclosure of conflict of interest — This is required for presenting author, as well as agreement with Terms and Conditions.
  • The submitting author should choose one of the topics — Ablative Surgery, Reconstructive Surgery, Radiotherapy, Medical Oncology, Epidemiology, Basic Science, Oral Pathology, Oral Medicine, Prosthetics, Other.

Abstract content

Please, make the abstract as informative as possible, and support your conclusions with data, strictly related to ORAL ONCOLOGY.

Abstracts must contain original material neither published nor presented elsewhere.

Those abstracts that have been already published as a manuscript in a peer-reviewed journal will not be considered. If your abstract has been previously published in proceedings of scientific meetings, but is not yet a published manuscript, it will be considered for presentation. Material from manuscripts that have been accepted for publications and are “in press” is acceptable.

Abstracts of unfinished research will not be evaluated. Abstracts stating “results will be announced / discussed in the presentation” or “the work is in progress” will be not accepted.

Grading and selection is blinded. The title and body text must not contain identifying information such as authors, institutes, etc.

Title must be written in lower case letters, except for study names. Do not use authors, institutions, city names, trademarks and abbreviations in the title.

Use generic drug names. The use of commercial drug names, brands and registered trademarks is strictly prohibited. Drugs should be referred to by the active substance of pharmacological designation.

Abstracts must not exceed 300 words (not including title and author information) and the submission system will not accept anything beyond that. Please do not leave blank lines to separate paragraphs. Special characters and symbols other than copyright/trademark are accepted in the abstract except in the title. Figures, tables, keywords, references, grant acknowledgements are not permitted.

We suggest to type the text in a Word processing program in a common font, and copy-paste it into the corresponding field. Bold, italic and underlined texts are not accepted.

It is the authors' responsibility to review the submission and correct it. Please proofread your abstract before completing your submission. It will be reproduced exactly as submitted.

Registration/Attendance Requirement

As Presenting Author, if you accept to present either an Oral Presentation or Poster, you must register and attend the IAOO 2022 Congress. Registration must be completed by May 4th, 2022. If the presenting author does not complete registration by above date all accepted abstracts submitted by the presenting author will be declined.

If you are unable to attend the IAOO 2022 Congress, you must inform us by e-mail ( before the registration´s deadline (May 23rd, 2022). The new Presenting Author must then fulfill the registration requirement or the abstract will be declined. After the changes, all correspondence will then be addressed and sent to the new Presenting Author.
